No doubt Google has jumped into social networking with a gigantic target, overtaking Facebook? And we have already seen a lot of development going on in this regard.
Google is already switching profiles to Google+ to integrate this newly launched social networking platform with as many features as it can, to attract users.
Here comes another update in this regard i.e. all Google profiles will go public from 31st July.
So if you are one of those users who are hiding behind the wall with their profiles as ‘private’, be sure that you won’t be able to hide the details anymore as Google has announced to make all profiles public from 31st July, 2011.
Google said following in a blogpost:
“The purpose of Google Profiles is to enable you to manage your online identity.  Today, nearly all Google Profiles are public. We believe that using Google Profiles to help people find and connect with you online is how the product is best used. Private profiles don’t allow this, so we have decided to require all profiles to be public.”
So with these profiles going public, you won’t be able to hide your name and gender while the rest of the information can be edited/deleted as per desire using Google+ privacy features.
As per Google:
“Your full name and gender are the only required information that will be displayed on your profile; you’ll be able to edit or remove any other information that you don’t want to share”
Also another important point is that all those profiles which remain private will automatically be deleted by Google on 31st July, 2011 – so if you do not want your profile to get deleted, simply switch it to ‘public’, yourself.
